Drone Division began in 2012 when Brad Grobler, a competitive RC aircraft and helicopter pilot, started building and programming custom multirotor drones. What began as a passion quickly evolved into professional work across mapping, surveying, inspections and film production.
In 2014, Brad partnered with Director of Photography Kevin Ruth to form Flip Media, travelling across Africa producing content for brands such as Billabong and the World Surf League, as well as mining, agricultural, corporate and documentary projects.
Following regulatory changes in 2015, Brad temporarily exited the drone industry and founded FilmHouse in 2016, which grew into one of the Eastern Cape’s leading production companies. After nearly a decade of high-end film and commercial experience, he relaunched Drone Division in 2024 as a fully licensed aerial unit within FilmHouse.
Today, Drone Division operates as the Eastern Cape’s most experienced drone company, delivering trusted aerial solutions for film, television and commercial production across South Africa.
